Beware of the Bluehost Affiliate Program

After about 9 years of using Bluehost, I switched to their VPS Enhanced Plan last year, only to encounter the ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR issue, which significantly reduced my visitor count. Despite contacting Bluehost multiple times, the problem remained unresolved, and I eventually moved my server to Cloudways.

Beware of the Bluehost Affiliate Program

Simultaneously, Bluehost abruptly terminated my affiliate agreement, refusing to pay me a substantial amount of commission.

At this time, we will not be paying out any commissions to you, as all pending commissions have been reversed.

As we've mentioned, we found suspicious activity while investigating your account.

When I inquired about the reason for the termination, they mentioned finding "suspicious activity" and invalidated all my pending commissions. Despite my inquiries about what activity was problematic, I received no further responses.

Please be aware that, if you are receiving commissions by recommending Bluehost, you may be denied payment just like I was.

I have always been transparent with my readers about the pros and cons of Bluehost. While its affordability is a strong point, the speed can be slow.

However, installing a lightweight WordPress theme like GeneratePress and using caching and optimization plugins can somewhat mitigate the speed issue. Nonetheless, using page builders like Elementor or multipurpose themes like Avada can result in slower speeds.

If you're looking for affordable and cost-effective web hosting, consider options like FastComet or GreenGeeks over Bluehost. They seem to offer more competitive speeds and costs.

Switching to Cloudways has given me peace of mind. Even when using a VPS on Bluehost, a slight increase in traffic often led to slower speeds or connectivity issues. Cloudways, on the other hand, offers better speed and disk space.

It seems that for Bluehost VPS, the server resources provided for the cost are rather poor compared to Cloudways.

If you are managing multiple sites, you might hesitate to switch to another web hosting provider due to the complexities of site migration. Cloudways provides a WordPress migration plugin, making it easy to transfer your sites.

Everything has its pros and cons, and Bluehost is no exception. While its affordability is certainly an advantage, it has not received favorable evaluations in terms of speed or stability. It seems that in the world, you get the service you pay for.

Most of my blog readers are from South Korea. Bluehost, in particular, does not perform well in terms of speed in South Korea. Since Bluehost's servers are located in the United States, the speed can be even slower in Asian countries.

Bluehost offers customer support through live chat. In the past, VPS users were assigned dedicated agents, allowing for quick customer service. However, it seems that now VPS users receive customer service in the same manner as shared hosting users. Sometimes, it can take a considerable amount of time to get in touch with a customer service representative.

If you recommend Bluehost to other users, I think it's important to convey these points along with the advantages.
