SiteGround vs Bluehost Comparison - Which one is better?

SiteGround vs Bluehost Comparison - Which one is better?

Personally, I currently operate or manage sites hosted on Bluehost Shared Hosting & VPS, FastComet and GreenGeeks.

This blog uses Bluehost VPS and other blog uses Bluehost Shared Hosting. And another blog is hosted on Siteground.

Based on my personal experiences, I will briefly summarize the features of Bluehost and SiteGround.

Bluehost Shared Hosting:

  • Provides unmetered space and bandwidth (except the basic plan which offers 50 GB space)
  • Unlimited domain connections (except basic). Unlimited subdomains
  • Cost-effective solution. Relatively low cost
  • It may be a bit unstable when you signed it up. If you experience problems, you can contact BH via Live Chat. It seems that performance has been improved and stabilized now.
  • cPanel
  • Offers free SSL certificates
  • Automatic WordPress Installation (please go to WordPress tools > New Install to install WP instead of cPanel > Website > Install WordPress; see this figure)
  • Live Chat Support (Bluehost offers 24/7 live chat and telephone support.) If your problem has not been resolved, you can contact them again. Then, another representative may resolve your problem. Fast way to resolve problems. However, experience with Siteground's Live Chat is more fast.
  • Performance has improved in recent years
  • Up to PHP 7.0 (For VPS, up to PHP 7.1)

Bluehost VPS:

  • More expensive than Shared Hosting, but more stable and faster
  • Disk space limit per plan (30GB, 60GB ...). Unmetered bandwidth
  • Unlimited domains and subdomains connection
  • If the number of visitors increases and reaches a level that the current resource cannot afford, you can add more resources such as RAM, CPU, and disk space.
  • cPanel
  • Free SSL certificates
  • Live Chat Support. Faster connection to BH support team when choosing  VPS / Dedicated Support
  • root privilege. Access to WHM
  • Access to SSH
  • Up to PHP 7.1

SiteGround Shared Hosting:

  • A bit more expensive than Bluehost Shared Hosting but more fast and stable
  • Limited disk space per plan (StartUp - 10GB, GrowBig - 20GB, GoGeek - 30GB)
  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • Visits limit per plan. Suitable for sites up to 10,000, 25,000, and 100,000 Visits, respectively
  • If you have more than 100,000 Visits (The term "Visits" is identical to the sessions number in Google Analytics), consider Virtual Server Hosting such as Bluehost VPS
  • Unlimited domains connections (except StartUp). Unlimited subdomains.
  • More reliable and faster
  • cPanel. I felt, more stable than Bluehost
  • Free Let's Encrypt SSL certificates
  • Backup / Restore within the last 30 days
  • PHP version  manager. It's possible to set PHP version per (first-level) sub-directory
  • Currently up to PHP 7.2
  • Live Chat Support. Very fast and responsive. Excellent support experience
  • Access to SSH

Conclusion

If you want more reliable and faster service (especially for company sites), SiteGround Shared Hosting or Bluehost VPS seem to be a good choice. If you want a cost-effective plan, you can consider BH Shared Hosting.

I think Bluehost Shared Hosting will be sufficient for most blogs. If you run a company and need more stable and reliable webhosting service, Bluehost VPS or Siteground Shared Hosting will be more appropriate.

If you want cheaper webhosting, you may also consider Satablehost.

When you sign up for Bluehost or other webhosting services by clicking the reference web links on this article, I will earn some commission. However, I do not advise a particular service just for commission; I've been making use of Bluehost, FastComet, GreenGeeks, StableHost, GoDaddy, Vultr and other hosting services for several years.
